First Annual ‘Girard Fest’, Set for Saturday, September 25, 2010.
Philadelphia, PA…The GIRARD BUSINESS & ARTS ASSOCIATION (GBAA) a non-profit is proud to announce the First Annual GIRARD FEST Street Festival, Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 11 am to 7 pm, rain or shine, on Girard Avenue from Front Street to 4th Street.
This first of its kind festival is a cooperative effort between the newly reorganized GBAA and Philadelphia F/M, Film & Music Festival. The event will feature live music with bands performing on three stages, local businesses along Girard Avenue, as well as a variety of arts & crafts and fair vendors including a food court, a beer garden, and a children’s play area. Special events are also scheduled at the Crane Arts Center (1400 N. American Street) and at the Lehigh Avenue Arts Festival along Lehigh Avenue at Belgrade Street. A Philadelphia Trolley car will be providing a loop throughout the day to connect all the venues.
“This is going to be a huge event for our neighborhood and will showcase the diverse shops and art galleries on and around this section of Girard Avenue,” stated Nicole Marcote, president of GBAA and owner of Quince Fine Foods, a Girard Avenue business. “We are seeing tremendous growth in the businesses being drawn to this part of town. We hope that this festival will attract the public and give them the opportunity to see just how much we have to offer in the city’s newest trend setting hot spot”.
The GBAA is currently soliciting vendors for the Fest. Space is priced at $100 for food & beverage vendors and $50 for non-food vendors, for a 10’x10’ area (with a 20% discount for GBAA members).
